Raiz is a day in Taganga. Literally meaning, "Root", it follows the colors and sounds of the people living and surviving. It is the brink of sea and desert. Sitting at the foot of the Sierra Nevada mountains, this small town sits between natural reserves and endless ocean. Despite the over 50-year civil war in Colombia, Taganga carries a humble happiness. T
Living here was a healing space. As a Colombiana, I was able to go back to Colombia and capture my gente, my people and its wide array of realities. Its beauties and work. For a moment, I was able to forget about the war and violence, about the children starving and the kidnappings. For a moment, being in the colors and in between the sounds was a breath of freedom and a return to my roots.
